Netflix, Rdio, Spotify, Facebook, Hulu, YouTube - all these things are built well and lots of people spend time on them. Hell, people pay money to some of them.

Indie venue websites are usually atrocious, lacking even basic info, rarely updated.

But, please, indie venues; keep thinking a Facebook Page and a website updated once a month is enough.

nprmusic:

The legacy of the late hip-hop producer J Dilla extended far beyond the beats he painstakingly created.
People are sometimes slow to embrace something that’s new and there can be an attitude of “I liked you better before.” I don’t think that’s the overall thought or opinion, I just think that’s occasionally the loudest voice or the attitude that’s easiest to cling on to, especially for some folks who might like to temper things with a negative slant.

Marnie Stern: That's true. When you are 20, you don't care if you sleep on the floor and don't have anything. But when you start to think about things like having a family, you think: "I can't do that if I wanna keep doing this." I don't mean to lay it out as a sacrifice-- like I have to choose music or a family-- but in some ways that is true, at least financially.

"Making the same mistakes over and over is considered insanity.
